I checked out Broadhaven first, lovely clean wave, cross-off, but the wave was tiny and with the small tide the sea was only just clear of the wind shadow from the cliffs even at low tide. On to Newgale and what a difference - meaty and messy. I rigged 4.7 and could not get planing and so was taken down several times on the way out. There were a few real munchers that were dredging up sand first thing, but these seemed to go as the tide came in. Rigged 5.3 and much better - planing on way out means less time in the impact zone and more power to get over. A good day and so much warmer than just 2 weeks ago at the same spot.
